Elected by majority vote each year, during the summer training event/ meeting, to serve a one year term. His primary role is to guide the unit during the reenacting season, chair all meetings, make final decisions (after carefully weighing the circumstances and opinions of the membership) on all unit matters pertaining to the welfare of the group in general. He has no duties in the field, and will typically be a regular soldier in the field. He may not hold any other duties in the unit.
Field Commander/ Feldwebel
Elected by majority vote each year, during the summer meeting, to serve a one year term. His primary and sole responsibility is to lead the unit in the field. He has no obligations in the group other than to study tactics, learn unit commands (in German), and to drill the unit at each event. He must be a good leader in the field, and be able to win!
Assistant Field Commander/ Obergefreiter
Elected by majority vote each year, during the summer meeting, to serve a one year term. We will assist the Feldwebel in his duties, and assume the responsibilities of the Feldwebel in his absence. If the unit is split for tactical reasons, he will lead the second group. He must have a good head for tactics, must know German commands, and should be considered as an 'understudy' for the Feldwebel. Ideally, each year the new Feldwebel (if changing to a new person) should be the previous Gefreiter, since he will have a year of training for it.
Public Relations/ Unit Liason Chairman
Appointed by the new President, and approved by majority vote of the membership at the summer meeting. His (or her, as an involved wife or girlfriend would be good for this as well) main responsibility is to be the go-between for the President to other outside organizations (other units, city councils, media, etc.) and to maintain contacs and knowledge about what events are coming up and such. Must be able to communicate well and worl well with the President.
Authenticity Chairman/ Committee
Appointed by the new President, and approved by majority vote of the membership at the summer meeting. His/ Their primary role is to be supremely knowledgeable about the Heer soldat (uniforms, weapons, accoutrements, etc), and to guide the rest of the membership in matters of authenticity. When disagreements arise regarding authenticity, the Authenticity Chairman has the final word on whether a member may take the field or not. Ideally, the committee should have three members ( i.e. one for uniforms, one for weapons, etc, and the chairman has the final say).
Although not currently needed since the unit does not collect dues, should we decide to do that in the future, the Treasurer would collect them, control the unit account, and keep the President and membership updated on financial status of the unit. He/ She is elected by majority vote each year at the summer meeting, for a term of one year.
